The new Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card is a fantastic card for the frequent flyer on Southwest Airlines, as well as a great card all around for consumers looking for competitive travel rewards. The value in this card can be seen right away, with the generous sign up bonus: Earn 40,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open.
Not only is this sign up bonus excellent, but there is also a great rewards offer of 2 points per $1 spent on Southwest® purchases and Rapid Rewards® hotel and car rental partner purchases. 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases. This card also offers several other benefits such as extra rewards on your sign-up anniversary, four upgraded flights per year, and extra back on purchases made in flight such as on drink or movies. With all this, it is clear that this card has a lot to offer, especially if someone is already a major customer for Southwest!
This card is also practical, as it comes along with a foreign transaction fee of $0, meaning you can swipe your card overseas without getting hit with an extra charge. The annual fee with this card is $149, but the perks and rewards you earn can easily help offset that cost.
If you're already an existing customer for Southwest Airlines and doesn’t mind an annual fee, this is absolutely a great card to carry to boost your Rapid Rewards bottom line.
The Annual Fee of this card is nearly offset by the annual $75 travel credit and the 7,500 bonus points after the first year, which means this is a fairly low-cost card that offers a competitive rewards rate, and an exceptionally beneficial sign-up bonus.
The annual fee is higher than some of the competition, and it isn't waived the first year. Also, you'll need excellent credit to get approved.
