With this Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard®, from our partner Citi, which was designed for those who like to travel on American Airlines, there is no annual fee for the first year of membership. This card also comes with a great sign up bonus: For a limited time, earn 80,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after $3,500 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening.
The annual fee is $99, waived for first 12 months, which we think is pretty reasonable as far as airline rewards cards go. The APR will be 19.49% - 29.49% (Variable), based on your creditworthiness. Citibank does advertise its products on our site.
The Good
- You can earn a big up front bonus and AAdvantage miles with every purchase.
The Not So Good
- There is an annual fee starting the second year, and almost all of the benefits of this card are built around American Airlines travel, so if you don’t fly with that carrier it won’t do you much good.
The Bottom Line
For those who want to accumulate credit card rewards that can be used to fly on American Airlines, this a pretty decent card with an annual fee that is waived for the first year.
